Yades
The furcula (“little fork” in Latin) or wishbone is a forked bone found in birds that works as a strut between the bird’s shoulders and acts like a spring in the pectoral girdle during flight. In Yades, a chair borrows the bird’s bone structure to hold the body in a “flying position”. The wishbone becomes part of the seating structure that supports the human shoulders and arms while the body is “lifted” above the ground.A wishbone is placed in each side of the seating and in between them a “wooden membrane” is used to support the back. The “membrane” is made of a light wood that distinguishes it from the main skeleton and is inclined so as to be comfortable and embrace the body. Two auxiliary legs retain the chair parallel to the ground. Participation in Andreu World International 2013 in collaboration with Nikolas Arnis (Knave).
