Room18

ep-avlis

Competition Room 18, 2016. The room of a Greek urban hotel is treated as a miniature of an old Athenian house. Therefore, the accommodation is organized around an avli (the greek word for courtyard). The entrance to the room is through the “courtyard”. The sun light entering the room is filtered by a sliding, wooden, fretwork door on the opposite side. On the left there is the bath area, wherein, a second, lattice surface hides and simultaneously reveals the body. On the right, the wardrobe is enlarged to accommodate the bed. It is the area with the greatest privacy as the blackout curtain that passes in front of it isolates it from the rest room. In collaboration with Vasia Lyri, Nikolas Arnis.
